Fastener Installation

Professional press-in fastener installation

Fermex offers a professional service for installing self-clinching (press-in) fasteners into sheet metal using hydraulic and pneumatic presses. This technology enables the permanent and reliable fixing of nuts, studs, standoffs and spacers in thin sheet metal where conventional tapping or welding is impractical or impossible. We use fasteners from leading global manufacturers, guaranteeing compatibility and quality in accordance with industrial standards.

Self-clinching fasteners are installed by pressing them into a pre-prepared hole in the sheet, causing the sheet material to plastically deform around the fastener and create a permanent mechanical joint. This process is particularly suitable for steel, stainless steel and aluminium sheets with a thickness of 0.6 mm to 6 mm. The key advantage over welding is that there is no thermal effect on the material — no distortion, no discoloration, and the sheet's surface protection (zinc, paint, anodizing) remains intact.

Our range includes clinch nuts (various thread sizes from M2 to M12), clinch studs, floating nuts, standoffs and panel fasteners. For each application we assist clients in selecting the correct fastener type and size, as well as specifying the required hole dimensions in the sheet. After installation, we perform pull-out force testing (push-out test) and rotational resistance testing (torque-out test) to confirm joint quality.

Our Process

1

Fastener Selection

We define the fastener type, thread size and material in accordance with the sheet thickness and assembly requirements for your application.

2

Press Installation

Fasteners are precisely installed using a hydraulic or pneumatic press with controlled pressing force, ensuring proper seating and clinch formation in every part.

3

Pull-out Testing

Push-out and torque-out tests are performed to verify joint quality and confirm the guaranteed load capacity of each installed fastener.
